Kumaranalloor Devi temple is one of the most important Devi temples among the 108 Durgalayas ( Devi temples ) in Kerala. Having more than 2400 years of age, as per historical and mythological evidence as well as other sources of information. This temple attracts devotees from all over the world keeping its sacredness. Moreover, it is a cynosure of worshippers by diffusing its vigour and vital force of Devi. The complete architecture of the temple is exemplary in its characteristics.
കേരളത്തിലെ 108 ദുർഗ്ഗാലയങ്ങളിൽ (ദേവി ക്ഷേത്രങ്ങൾ) ഏറ്റവും പ്രധാനപ്പെട്ട ദേവീ ക്ഷേത്രങ്ങളിൽ ഒന്നാണ് കുമാരനല്ലൂർ ദേവീ ക്ഷേത്രം. ചരിത്രപരവും പുരാണപരവുമായ തെളിവുകളും മറ്റ് വിവര സ്രോതസ്സുകളും അനുസരിച്ച് 2400 വർഷത്തിലേറെ പഴക്കമുണ്ട്. ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം ലോകമെമ്പാടുമുള്ള ഭക്തരെ ആകർഷിക്കുന്നു, അതിന്റെ പവിത്രത കാത്തുസൂക്ഷിക്കുന്നു. മാത്രമല്ല, ദേവിയുടെ വീര്യവും ജീവശക്തിയും വ്യാപിപ്പിച്ചുകൊണ്ട് ഇത് ആരാധകരുടെ ഒരു ആകർഷണമാണ്. ക്ഷേത്രത്തിന്റെ സമ്പൂർണ്ണ വാസ്തുവിദ്യ അതിന്റെ സവിശേഷതകളിൽ മാതൃകാപരമാണ്
As per historical evidence, the temple was built by the great Kerala King Cheraman Perumal. During this period, the temple was installed and the assets for this temple were given by the king Perumal. He formed the Ooranma and other Nattukoottams (groups of villages) for the day-to-day activities of the temple and for the villages surrounding the temple.
ചരിത്രപരമായ തെളിവുകൾ പ്രകാരം, ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം പണികഴിപ്പിച്ചത് മഹാനായ കേരള രാജാവായ ചേരമാൻ പെരുമാളാണ്. ഈ കാലയളവിൽ, ക്ഷേത്രം സ്ഥാപിക്കുകയും ക്ഷേത്രത്തിനുള്ള സ്വത്തുക്കൾ പെരുമാൾ രാജാവ് നൽകുകയും ചെയ്തു. ക്ഷേത്രത്തിന്റെയും ക്ഷേത്രത്തിന് ചുറ്റുമുള്ള ഗ്രാമങ്ങളുടെയും ദൈനംദിന പ്രവർത്തനങ്ങൾക്കായി അദ്ദേഹം ഊരാൺമയും മറ്റ് നാട്ടുകൂട്ടങ്ങളും (ഗ്രാമങ്ങളുടെ കൂട്ടങ്ങൾ) രൂപീകരിച്ചു.
During this period Kumaranalloor became one of the Malayala Gramam(village). King Perumal built the necessary activity centres belonging to the temple. This temple was the epic centre of social, cultural and political activities. During his generations in power, Kumaranalloor temple and village had all the privileges and his keen interest and faith in Kumaranalloor Devi made the temple famous.
ഈ കാലഘട്ടത്തിൽ കുമാരനല്ലൂർ മലയാള ഗ്രാമങ്ങളിൽ ഒന്നായി മാറി. പെരുമാൾ രാജാവ് ക്ഷേത്രത്തിന് ആവശ്യമായ പ്രവർത്തന കേന്ദ്രങ്ങൾ നിർമ്മിച്ചു. സാമൂഹിക, സാംസ്കാരിക, രാഷ്ട്രീയ പ്രവർത്തനങ്ങളുടെ ഇതിഹാസ കേന്ദ്രമായിരുന്നു ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം. തലമുറകളായി അധികാരത്തിലിരുന്ന കാലത്ത് കുമാരനല്ലൂർ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിനും ഗ്രാമത്തിനും എല്ലാ പദവികളും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു, കുമാരനല്ലൂർ ദേവിയോടുള്ള അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ അഗാധമായ താൽപ്പര്യവും വിശ്വാസവും ക്ഷേത്രത്തെ പ്രശസ്തമാക്കി.
